Overview and objectives of unaVision
Balancing the world by activating and working with rural, peripheral, precarious regions can be a very rewarding experience. Our goal is to really, really make a difference in our own lives, to carefully select the people we choose to work with, live with, learn with and celebrate with and to choose the locations where we are doing that. For this, we are seeking to create at least a dozen prototypes of “BeingSpace Communities” around the globe, which are interconnected by an intensive learning exchange, co-design and implementation processes of examples of our future society in which we like to live.
UnaVision is a growing knowledge and collaborative network driven by like minded people and their rural and urban communities, neighborhoods, organizations and initiatives. UnaVision is aiming for a "world in balance". UnaVision offers a unique learning environment and learning activities. The involved people cherish an intense and ongoing contact with each other, and are actively involved in co-developing and implementing prototypes and innovative approaches for a systemic change in our social, ecological, cultural and economic sectors. We foster project based learning, eco-social entrepreneurship, common goods economy and sociocratic governance. Specifically implement during the next years:
- the unaVision network, a lively global co-creating community of likeminded people
- BeingSpace Communities, a network of living laboratories spread over all continents
- EcoVersities, alternative Universities as a unique, global learning environment
- Collaborative Eco-Social Economies, millions of meaningful, green jobs
UnaVision regions
The UnaVision regional community consists of interest groups within a region (neighborhoods, villages, communities, initiatives, organizations, universities) where like minded people actively collaborate to create and implement an environment for "good living" and prototype examples of a systemic change towards a more balanced world. The main objective is to take part in the emergence of lively, healthy, balanced regions of various sizes and cultures which allows good living, which attracts people to stay or to move in regardless of their cultural, religious, educational or social background. This encompasses among others:
- establishing circular economies with eco-social entrepreneurships, meaningful green workplaces while testing new economic and social models
- creating people centered learning environments based on project based learning, flipped classrooms activities; makerspaces/hackerspaces/hubs
- creating preventive health and life care systems affordable for everybody;
- creating a rich social and cultural environment,
- creating permaculture regions and encourageing local and organic food supply
- implementing of a participatory - sociocratic approach for the administration of the region and network,
- fostering an extensive international short and long-term exchange of interested people between the locations in order to learn from each other
UnaVision global network and governance system
The global UnaVision network connects the UnaVision regions. It gives access to information, experience and knowledge of other like minded UnaVision regions. People and communities open up and share their experiences freely. Experts of different fields give access to their knowledge and experience base. This enables the network to find higher quality solutions for their challenges without regional boundaries. An active community co-creates and shares solutions for systems, products and services and opens up opportunities for value creation and work places. UnaVision uses information as well as social technologies in a systematic way to realize the set objectives. The global UnaVision network will be governed by a sociocratic system consisting of elected project circles, general circles and top circles for the global system and sociocratic systems within each region.
UnaVision Learning Journeys
The UnaVision Learning Journey is a multi-dimensional process. People and teams co-develop events, forums, projects, programs and eco-social entrepreneurships on the way to reach the objectives. Personal, virtual and physical learning journeys within and between the regions bring people together, connect them and offer a unique learning environment. UnaVision Journeys offer participants to explore initiatives around the globe in order to give impulses for their own projects. The inter-generational, inter-cultural and inter-sectoral approach widens the perspective for everybody.
The 4 M approach for learning journeys
- Move physically and mentally, change your perspectives and behavior, experience new things, open up!
- Meet people from different sectors, cultures and generations, learn from their knowledge, experience, wisdom and personal mastery, enter deep dialogs to really, really understand
- Make and co-develop products, services and systems, get new skills, become creative, implement concepts, be a social entrepreneur and create new ventures who serve the people and society and which gives yourself a livelihood.
- Multiply and share your experiences and knowledge, tell your story, write articles, poetries, books, make drawings and films

Who are the people in the UnaVision network
At the moment there are people from following regions interested in forming the unaVision network: Albania, Austria, Bhutan, Costa Rica, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Kosovo, Macedonia, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, USA. The network is forming and densifying. We value sustainability, creativity, crafts, skills, entrepreneurial spirit, arts, culture, participation, curiosity, learning and hospitality. We think that villages and neighborhoods are blessed because they are places where mankind can truly interact with each other and with nature. We want to foster these qualities and therefore do not go too much for quantity but for quality.
History of the UnaVision network
ThinkCamp is conducting hiking dialogs, idea camps and learning journeys since its conceptions in 2008. The UnaVision community spirit was born in 2013 during the “caravan of change” called “dunaVision”, which brought people together for an eight months long learning journey through fourteen Eastern European countries. The journey was coordinated by Sarah Kupke and Johannes Pfister and connected during the journey in 50 workshops around one thousand people. The journey as a pattern stands for individual inner learning journeys and physical journeys as groups. In the meantime, ThinkCamp conducted dozens of learning journeys and projects in many countries. The learning journey has brought us to places far away from the well beaten paths and trails of tourism, places that cherish their identity and value strangers who come to consciously enrich it.
Complementary currency
In order to support the value creation within your community, region and network we suggest to use a complementary currency – the “Una”. The idea is that Unas can be used within your community but also may be exchanged within the communities of the UnaVision network. It will be exchanged on a virtual platform. We plan to use Cyclos (http://www.cyclos.org/) as platform. Journeys, products and services can be offered within the unaVision network.
Next steps in the network forming
Meetings (see UnaVision event calendar) for co-developing the concept of the UnaVision network based of the needs of the involved people and locations are planned during 2016-2018 in many regions within Europe, Americas, Africa and Asia. Gatherings of the community involving many stakeholders are planned in the Netherlands from November 9th to 14th 2016, Mexico in January/February 2017, in Europe during spring/summer 2017 and in India during winter 2017.
In case you are interested in joining the initiative please contact Johannes Pfister: johannes.pfister@thinkcamp.eu
